Pádraig qualified as a Construction Studies and Wood Technology teacher from Thomond College in 1985. Prior to commencing this course of study, he spent one year in the Irish Air Corps as an apprentice aircraft technician.
Pádraig taught Construction Studies and Wood Technology for 28 years in Colaiste Lorcain, Castledermot, Co Kildare, before taking up a position as Principal of Ardscoil na Mara in Tramore, Co Waterford in September 2014.
Pádraig has worked with the State Examinations Commission for Wood Technology coursework since 1992, initially as an Advising Examiner, before taking up the Chief Advising Examiner position in 2012.
He was also an Associate Presenter for 5 years with T4 where he helped deliver the new Design and Communications curriculum nationally.
A keen woodworker, Pádraig continues to keep up to date with current trends in construction and practices wood craftwork when time allows. A keen sports enthusiast, he is currently the Juvenile Chairperson of O’Hanrahan’s GFC in Carlow.
