Since 2015, John Daly has worked as an Economist in both the private and public sector. In 2021, John became the Economist of the Northern and Western Regional Assembly. Such a role involves undertaking economic research relating to regional development topics, supporting the implementation and monitoring of the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy of the Northern and Western Region of Ireland, applying for EU funding and assisting the elected members of the Assembly and the region.
As the Economist of the Northern and Western Regional Assembly, John’s economic research has predominantly focused on a wide range of topics including – but not limited to – regional infrastructure deficits, capital investment allocations, economic development patterns and regional disparities in Ireland.
Prior to his time in the Northern and Western Regional Assembly, John worked as the Joint Economist of the three Regional Assemblies of Ireland, as a Senior Economist in EY Economic Advisory Services and as an Economist with DKM Economic Consultants.
